HISTORY

The Inter-Institutional Post Graduate Program "Chemistry Education, Information and Communication Technology and Education for Sustainable Development", "ChEd-ICT-ESD" is a re-establishment (Government Gazette_3035_Β_27.07.2018) of the Post Graduate Program entitled "Teaching Chemistry and New Educational Technologies, "ChEd-ICT", demonstrating in its title all three directions: "Teaching Chemistry", "New Educational Technologies" and "Education for Sustainable Development".

ChEd-ICT was founded in 1998 (Government Gazette 1063 vol. B 12.10.1998) and functioned flawlessly until the academic year 2017-2018 with the cooperation of the Departments of Chemistry of NKUA, Chemistry of AUTH. and the Chemical Engineering School of NTUA.The Study Program included two directions: "Teaching of Chemistry" in the Chemistry department of the NKUA. and "Modern Methods of Teaching Chemistry" at the Chemistry Department of AUTH. On the occasion of the UNESCO Chair and Network for Management and Education for Sustainable Development in the Mediterranean establishment (2012), the direction "Environmental education and Education for Sustainable Development» was added to the Curriculum of the academic year 2015-2016 (Official Gazette 2276 sq. B' 21.10.2015) in the Department of Chemistry of NKUA.

A third direction titled “Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development was added to the curriculum of the academic year 2015-2016 (Official Gazette 2276 sq. B' 21.10.2015) in the Chemistry Department of  NKUA, since the UNESCO Chair and Network for Management and Education for Sustainable Development in the Mediterranean had already established in the Chemistry Department (2012).  

After the creation and operation of ChEd-ICT, which was the first PGP on education in the thematic area of  Science and especially on Chemistry, the ever-increasing interest in the offered specializations and the good prospects for professional rehabilitation in combination with the international new ideas regarding Teaching and Information and Communication Technologies, were the reason for the operation of other similar  P.M.S. in almost all the Educational Institutions of the country.
